Connecticut grandparents may successfully petition for Connecticut grandparent rights visitation under the following conditions:

a parent-like relationship exists between the grandparent and grandchild, and

a denial of visitation would significantly harm the child.A review of the following factors will determine if a parent-like relationship exists:

the grandparent-grandchild relationship

the length of the relationship

the specific parent-like activities undertaken by the grandparent

whether the grandparent has undermined the parent’s authority

If child’s parents are dead

the parental fitness and any history neglect, and

the grandparent’s fitness to care for the child.
